Alhaji Abdullai Ibrahim is the founding partner at Abdullai Ibrahim & Co. He was called to the English Bar in 1963 where he practiced in chambers for a while before returning to Nigeria and was called to the Nigeria Bar in 1964.
He has at different times served as Legal Adviser at the then Ministry of Finance, Northern Nigeria and New Nigeria Development Company and as Senior State Counsel and head of prosecutions at the Ministry of justice, Kano State. Alhaji Abdullai Ibrahim has since 1973 remained in active private legal practice and has in the process built a solid reputation as a Seasoned Arbitrator culminating in his admission into the Inner Bar as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, (S.A.N) in 1982.
His status as a Notary Public, a life member of the Body of Benchers where he served as the Body’s Vice Chairman and Chairman between 1999 and 2001 including his membership of the National Judicial Council (NJC) between 2004 and 2008; chairman Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary committee between 2001 and 2006 and also chairman, Legal Aid Council from 1999 to 1994 all attest to his dynamism.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Nigeria (FCIArb) and a member of the chartered institute of Arbitrators (UK) (MCIArb) and also a Fellow of the Institute of Advance Legal Studies, Nigeria (FINALS). In acknowledgement of his contribution to national development he was conferred with the national honor/Award of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) and later commander of the Order of Niger (CON).
He was also conferred with the honors/Award of Gran Cruz de la Orden de la independencia de Guinea Equatorial by the Government of Equatorial Guinea for his service to the country and Nigeria. Alhaji Abdullai Ibrahim has acted as Amicus Curiae in several contentious matters before the Supreme Court of Nigeria and was conferred with an honourary Doctorate Degree in Law (LL.D, Honoris Causa) by the kogi State University in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of the Nigeria law and legal system
He is currently a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague, Netherlands. His interests are in the area of international law, Taxation/Revenue Law, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Investment Law and Core Litigation.
